Find info concerning Bluffton University human physiology, registering for elective courses, and taking free practice tests online. Which college degrees give you the best chances of finding employment after graduation? If you major in human physiology, for example, there are a variety of specializations that may appeal to you, such as medical assisting or occupational rehabilitation. Check with the human physiology department for a class list, as well as course registration dates. Due to advances in medical systems, there is a growing skill-shortage of graduates from human physiology programs, and nursing professionals in general.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) designation is the first step in becoming a nurse. After Becoming a CNA, you will assist in caring for patients by monitoring vital statistics, bathing, feeding and maintaining personal hygiene. Most CNA programs can be completed within a few months, allowing you to begin working. As the public ages, nursing care has become a major source of employment for new technical program graduates.

The next step in a nursing career is to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). This is a one year long program, in which you'll work under an RN, and be assigned advanced care work. Practice requirements for LPNs vary from state to state, but basic duties include passing meds, wound care, and administering feeding tubes. 1-year nursing certificate programs train students to pass the licensing test, in order to become an LPN or LVN. It is common for 90% or more of the class to find nursing jobs within 6 months. You don't have to become a registered nurse to make good money, as a licensed practical nurse with several years of work experience can earn well over $40,000 a year.

Health Insurance Policies

When you purchase health insurance, shop around online for premium costs, policy coverage limits, and complaint information. How much are hospitalization premiums, and is there a deductible that you must pay out of your pocket in the case of medical treatment? Is there a hospital, physician, and pharmacy network that the policy limits you to, and how large is it?

Your health insurance policy only pays for services that are medically necessary, such as hospital care, visits to your primary care doctor and specialist procedures, like emergency and urgent care, occupational therapy, pregnancy, and required surgery. It also covers lab tests and diagnostic services, like x-rays, ultrasound, and mammograms, as well as preventive and routine care, like vaccines, checkups, mental health care including therapy for autism, and some home care, such as rehabilitation after a hospital stay.
